C.A. Muench Confections, LLC came to life as a business on January 6, 2015.
Although new, the company has worked to perfect the art of candy making over three successive generations.
The legacy began over 80 years ago, when Lorene Muench tested and refined the original CAMmie caramel recipe in her Missouri kitchen.
Following these humble beginnings, her son Charlie inherited and refined her methods, eventually crafting his St. Louis famous chocolate covered caramel pecan turtle®, an American Midwestern mainstay since the late 80's.
Packaged and given as Christmas and birthday gifts for several years, Charlie eventually bequeathed the legend to me in the early 90's, at which point I began to experiment with competing and complementary recipes, in a never-ending effort to strive for an even higher standard of perfection.
Always fiddling, my co-workers, family, friends, and neighbors have contributed to my current panoply of artisan candy. Whether it’s the modern-day incarnation of my caramel-nut-bite CAMmies, almond toffee, peanut brittle, or one of my many-flavored caramel popcorns, everyone raves! For years, my sons have told me I shouldn’t be giving this candy away---I should be selling it!
C.A. Muench Confections serves as a tribute to my dad Charlie, and his culinary refinement of the original CAMmie caramels. To ensure the proper safe handling of all food products, I utilize a commercial kitchen. To this end, I additionally am certified as a Food Safety Manager by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals.
